Drawing on previously unstudied archives, letters, and documents as well as her experience as an Azerbaijani musician and educator, Huseynova shows how Azerbaijani musical development was not a product of Soviet cultural policies but rather grew from and reflected deep and complex cultural processes.

Zebra is a beautifully illustrated, easy-to-read children's book. It's a cute story about a lonely Zebra who wanted someone like himself to love and to love him. The pictures are certainly eye-capturing and the words are simple enough for a new reader to be able to read the book for themselves. Karen Hart did an wonderful job illustrating the book to correspond with the story at the appropriate times. This is a story than many children will enjoy.

This study seeks to define, through the work of a courageous and thoughtful contemporary artist, the theological sublime as an aesthetic of revelation.

Alex joined Orbitz Worldwide in 2004, and in his current role of Senior Principal Engineer, he is responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance in the development of foundational technologies, core libraries, and APIs for enterprise-wide use, as well as establishing and maintaining common design principles and standards used within the company and integration of new software development practices within the development community. He has extensive experience in enterprise architecture designing distributed systems, and spends a lot of time doing object domain modeling and focusing on domain-driven design and behavior-driven development and testing. Prior to that, Alex was a lead engineer in the same team that was responsible for web application frameworks and developing common practices and additional functionality on top of Spring MVC and Webflow. He has been a long-time Spring user, starting with Spring 2.0.8 and all the way to the latest and greatest―Spring Boot. Ever since the introduction of Spring Boot, he has been writing applications using the framework as well as contributing patches to the codebase. His general interests lie in the area of distributed computing and technologies and frameworks that enable ease of application creation and cross communication. Besides Java, he is also proficient in Ruby/Rails, PHP, Groovy and is currently learning Erlang. Alex is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago, with a BS in computer science and an MS in computer science specializing in software architecture. He currently resides in Evanston, IL. When not coding, Alex enjoys playing tennis, hiking, skiing, and traveling.

Great information that you probably won't get from other Spring Boot books

I recently starting learning Spring Boot and it's been very interesting. Developers will know though that writing the code and having it running locally isn't even half the job. Customisation for environments, deployment tasks and adding monitoring etc. can add just as much time.
That's why I was very pleased with this book, I was half expecting it to be a series of small tutorials about coding with Spring Boot but it takes a very unusual approach that covers the edge cases of development and has a strong focus on what Spring Boot brings to the table. The Application Testing chapter is very good and cover using Mockito, Cucumber and Spock.
The deployment chapters cover building an executable jar, accessing environment specific variables and most interesting for me, creating Docker images. It also covers application monitoring, another aspect Spring Boot gives you for free.
I'm still reading through the book but it's definitely one that's full of information that you won't normally get in development books. It's well written and easy to dive into because the chapters are all self contained.
If you're interested in Spring Boot, I strongly recommend this in addition to one about developing in Spring Boot.

Great novella!

Protective Instinct by Katie Reus is the perfect story for Ryan and Teresa. I really enjoy the entire Moon Shifter series with both novels and novellas. Reus is able to connect the overall storyline within the short stories. Protective Instinct was just as entertaining as the other books. There is the perfect blend of romance, suspense and paranormal aspects to the story. Once you open one of these books, you rarely close it without finishing. Reus writes in a way that pulls you in from the first page and won’t let you go until the end.

Ryan and Teresa have been dancing around the whole mating/bonding thing for a long time and it is driving Teresa insane. Ryan has his fears which Teresa understands in her head to a point but really thinks he can overcome them and tries everything she can do to do just that. Eventually she can’t think of anything else to tell or show him how serious she is about wanting to be his for the rest of their lives. She is tired of waiting on him. Of course, just then, disaster strikes and the pack has to move into action and all thoughts of romance are pushed to the side for Teresa and Ryan.

Reus handles this short story fantastically. The romance between Teresa and Ryan plays out very nicely and the passion and intimacy fits the story and characters well.The balance of suspense and romance is perfect and the appearance of other characters adds to the storyline. I love reading about past romances and learning about ones to come in future stories.

If you like paranormal romance, I really can’t say enough good things about Protective Instinct as a novella and the entire Moon Shifter series. I will continue to auto-read the Moon Shifter series books for as long as Reus writes them. They are highly recommended!

Good Addition to the series

3 1/2 Stars. This is a novella in Katie Reus' Moon Shifter Series and falls in right after book 5 Hunter Reborn. This novella centers around Teresa and Ryan who played a big role in Hunter Reborn and their relationship actually started in that book. You could read this as a stand alone but would recommend reading Hunter Reborn first. In Hunter Reborn Ryan started to accept how he felt about Teresa and let her know that he wanted to be with her. He had revealed his past and what had kept him from pursuing her in that book as well. In this book, Ryan is still holding back on bonding with Teresa. He is letting his past and what happened between his parents (his dad being just like him) effect his relationship with Teresa. He wants to be absolutely convinced that Teresa wants to bond with him so he holds back physically with her. Teresa is frustrated and upset because she knows she wants to be bonded to Ryan and wants him to trust her. She is finally so frustrated that she goes to help another single unmated wolf in the pack on an overnight trip. Ryan realizing this chases after her. When Teresa leaves the ranch she is put in danger from an enemy of the pack.

I just didn't buy Ryan pushing Teresa away so much considering he is an empathy. He should be able to tell that her feelings were real and solid. I kept thinking he has a gift that should let him understand her and feel that his decisions are hurting her. It was frustrating. I actually enjoyed reading more about Aldric and Natalie more.

This isn't my favorite shifter series but it is enjoyable.

Protective Instinct - Shifting Dangers

Even Shifters have problems of love, especially when the alpha male is stubborn and pig-headed like Ryan. In the next installment of the Moon Shifter Series, “Protective instinct”, Katie Reus gives her ever-protective hero the fear of his life, as she throws his mate Theresa into danger.

Theresa and Ryan may have accepted their feelings for each other, but the stubborn alpha holds back the ultimate mating due to his painful past. Frustration leads to arguments and barriers and a revengeful vampire has Ryan rethinking his idiotic behavior of keeping Theresa at an arm’s length. A threat to Theresa’s life brings out Ryan’s protective instincts and the separation and fear of losing is mate gets his head out his rear to claim her forever.

Intense, steamy, and passionate, “Protective Instinct” is a short novella in the series that leaves us with the satisfaction of reading another charismatic story of Katie Reus’s creative and mesmerizing paranormal. And I’ve never been disappointed with her writing prowess, and she is a master at keeping her narration enchanting and captivating.

Sewing teacher and author Hinds gives instructions and patterns for 16 ethnic costumes designed for standard, commercial 18" dolls. Many of the authentic costumes involve traditional fabrics and needlework. Best Author for 18-inch dolls Clothing!

I LOVE this book. I bought this book because I wanted to make the Russian and Irish costumes for my daughter's dolls. I have NEVER sewed doll clothes before this. The patterns are SO easy and I was able to make several of the costumes from fabric scraps about the house.
I have since made MANY doll clothes and after this book had the confidence to purchase some of the commercial patterns. After working with the commercial patterns, I REALLY started to appreciate the clarity and ease of Joan Hinds patterns (and the FIT - they fit the dolls 100%). Some people don't like the pattern paper, but I always trace them onto poster board and that way I get a durable patterns for years to come (and on poster board, the kids can trace them out onto the cloth easier too!).
I have since purchased several of her books and love them all. I love all the photos and the easy directions. If you are new to sewing doll clothes or just new to sewing, this is a great book to get you up and running!

Sew the International Wardrobe for 18 in. dolls

Like all of Joan's books, this one is easy to read and follow, and has great doll clothing ideas. Her patterns are easy to understand and always go together well, and fit American Girl style dolls to a T. I enjoyed this book because there are so many ethnic designs; it will be fun to find just the right fabrics to make them all. I highly recommend this book!

Good except for the omission.

The photographs were excellent. The instructions simple and clear. But I wish the dealer would have stated there were no patterns like one of the other sellers had the courtesy to do. Still I may be able to utilize this for a product line I am developing, but it will take some adjusting and experimenting to achieve the results I am seeking. It would have been so much easier if the patterns would have been included.

Less does not equal more!

This could've been a great book, and was for the first 1/3 of it. After that it went to hell. I honestly can't put into words why I ended up putting the book down at 97% completion. It's just that I honestly didn't care about what happened to any of the characters. This was due to the fact that there was just too many people I was forced to follow. Yep, it was written in 1st person perspective, but it kept jumping from character to character way too much, so I didn't really get a chance to care about the MC all that much, especially when the fighting took on a glossed-over aspect. LIike this; 'Darwin took a powerful overhead swing at the Orc, cleaving it deeply.' YOU HAVE DONE 132 POINTS OF DAMAGE. It went from that, too; 'Darwin jumped headlong into the fray, moving so fast and doing so much damage the enemy had no chance.' Yeah, pretty boring reading through fight scenes like that for the last 2/3 of the book.

There was even 2 or 3 Boss fights that we don't even get to see what dropped from them!! WTH!!

I also didn't like the fact that the Mage's bigger spells took 2 minutes or more to cast... Seriously!? If that were the case then no one would even think about running a mage. You'd spend more time dead then alive ffs!

Ok, all that negative aside, I really did get into the first part of the book. It was captivating and read like a VR MMO should, and stuck with the Bathrobe Knight for the most part. Once the other characters got involved, though, it just got boring and uninteresting for me.

Fun read

I bought it to support the author, but I read it as a free, serialized web novel, thus I have trouble reviewing it as a purchased book.
To me, it was a fun weekly web novel. The author reads all the comments, responds and can course correct depending on the readers reviews.

This is VRMMO, without all the silly 'real life' stuff, and yet not quite 'transported' genre. Players actually play the game like it is an MMO.

It is given in different POV sections, kinda like 'Song of Ice & Fire'.

It starts off strong as a comedy, then towards the conclusion, the humor goes away.
There is an abundance of gamer & 'nerd'(or is it 'geek'. I always get the 2 confused) pop-culture references.

Really, this plays more like an MMO than most other VR stories I've read, which is quite nice. I can tell that the author has experience with and appreciation for games..(Obviously, there are many things that would never be in a REAL mmo, but I accept it for the sake of the story)

Unfortunately, it suffers from a badly done romance plotline towards the end. (Many readers immediately commented, and apparently the writer viewed the situation completely differently, so I'm still hopeful that the situation will be improved)

I would recommend reading it there anyways, if for no other reason than the community and the interaction with the author.

It was worth my while as a free story. If you enjoy it like I did, then you can always buy it later.

Worth Buying

A fun engaging story about a person who get's transported to another world wearing only a bathrobe. It is humorous and exciting with plenty of action and some mystery as well. If you have seen other reviews saying to just read it online, there is bonus content here, so support the author and get it!
